TRUCKEE HOTSHOTS
We are an Interagency Hotshot Crew, based out of Truckee, California. We take pride in providing a highly skilled and resilient workforce. We are stewards of the land and we bring enthusiasm, work ethic, and grit to all aspects of our work.
Our job is highly physical and we expect our crew members and candidates to maintain high physical standards. We expect crew members to be able to complete our hike, Acid Flats, in under 40 minutes with fire gear. We also have baseline workout that all are expected to complete.
BASELINE:
Starts with a 3.5 trail miles averaging 7:00 minute pace.
Pull up pyramid with reps 1,2,3,4,4,3,2,1 in regular, narrow, chin up, & wide form. (80 total) With Additional pull ups in commando form with reps 1,2,2,2,2,1.
Push ups with reps 2,4,6,8,10,10,8,6,4,2 in regular, diamond, wide, and pike form. (240 total)
Dips with reps 5,10,15,10,5. (45 total)
Core with 30 reps for sit ups, half ups, jack knives, crunches, cross crunches, oprahs, scissors, leg lifts, leg cross, rows, bicycles, and supermans.
Our Standards
On the Line
Hiking into work, usually into rough & steep terrain.

Lines are scouted and operational plans are made.
A saw team cuts a proper fuel break.

Handline construction on direct edge.
A swamper moves fuel during a hot shift.

A night shift.

Prepping fireline in a creek drainage.


Our days are usually spent constructing fireline, burning, or performing suppression tasks. Our tactics are dictated by conditions of the fire and suppression needs. The crew will work long hours on these tasks daily until objectives our met. We pride ourselves on strong work ethic and providing production with quality product. Each member of the crew has the responsibility to work hard and push themselves.
Days off in Truckee
Lake Tahoe
Twenty minutes from Hobart Work Center is Lake Tahoe, the largest alpine lake in North America. With volleyball and swimming at the beach, it makes for a great RNR activity.
Truckee, CA
Being located in Truckee, means access to long trails, pristine land, and water. Crew members run, ride, climb and explore the forest.
Around Town
Hobart Work Center is 10 minutes from Truckee, a town of 16,000, and about 30 minutes from Reno, Nevada. The two towns offer plenty of shops, bars, grocery stores and amenities to crew members, along with the Reno airport.
